About Me Moctar Sakho
Moctar Sakho, born on September 27, 1959, in Mederdra, Mauritania, is a respected scholar, educator, and linguist devoted to promoting African, Islamic, and Francophone cultures. With advanced studies in French Language and Literature, Francophone Comparative Studies, and Political Science/International Relations, he has pursued his education at renowned institutions including the Sorbonne in Paris, Université Abdelmalek Essâadi in Morocco, the University of Washington in St. Louis, and Suffolk University in Boston. Over more than three decades, he has taught and conducted research across Mauritania, France, Morocco, and the United States, contributing his expertise to institutions such as the Defense Language Institute, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado College, and MARSOC.
Fluent in Pulaar (Fulani), Wolof, Arabic, French, and English, Sakho is also a professional translator and cultural mediator who bridges languages and traditions. His academic interests span African Studies, Islamic culture, post-conflict governance, language and identity, and human development. Through his teaching, research, and writing, he advocates for social justice, intercultural dialogue, and education as a powerful tool for dignity and progress. His lifelong mission is to build understanding between cultures and inspire knowledge that promotes unity and peace.
